Inspiration

I create hand-crafted jewellery that reflects the unique environment of Aotearoa. My childhood in the rainforests of South Westland inspired in me a love for our endemic flora and natural heritage. In my work, I design and fabricate pieces that highlight my favourite native plants and minerals.

Techniques

I specialise in working with pure silver, using processes including fold forming, hand piercing and roll printing. Using a range of hand tools, I enjoying experimenting with textures, shapes and forms in metal.

Career

Growing up in Haast and Arthur's Pass National Park, in 2011 I graduated in Jewellery & Metal Smithing at the Dunedin School of Art. Since 2011 I have been creating one of a kind jewellery for galleries throughout New Zealand alongside teaching jewellery making classes. I currently live in Wellington with my young family.

Ethics

All my beach pebbles are fossicked from coastlines around New Zealand by me or my family.

My silver is sourced from a New Zealand company who use recycled metals. All my own scrap metal is melting down & used to create new pieces. I also enjoy working with Hokitika alluvial gold and Australian sourced green sapphires.
